Johns Hopkins University Department of Civil Engineering

Fundamentals of Engineering Exam

All Civil Engineering seniors are strongly encouraged to take the FE (Fundamentals of Engineering) Exam in spring 2012 (Exact date is TBD).  Students with any questions should email Dr. Rachel Sangree who serves as the FE exam coordinator for the department. Following are general instructions for applying to sit for the exam:
1.  Download, print and fill out application from the DLLR website: http://www.dllr.state.md.us/

2.  Submit your application, transcripts, and an anticipated graduation letter from the registrar.  For this third item, submit with your transcript request a Verification Letter Request form available from the transcript window at the Registrar’s office.  Under “Special Instructions” write “I need an anticipated graduation letter to apply for the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam”.  If you have questions about the form, Casey Conley is the State Board contact in the Registrar's Office.

3.  You must also register with the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) at www.ncees.org during their open registration period.

4.  Once Steps 1 – 3 are complete and you have been notified by the DLLR that your application was approved, you will register to sit for the exam and pay the exam fee ($165) at www.pcshq.com.  The Department of Civil Engineering will reimburse you for the cost of the exam.  Print a receipt and give it to Tanya Waith in the main CE office.
