With Your Support, Innovation Flourishes!
In creating CBID, we embarked on a journey that goes far afield from the traditional academic model and traditional academic sources for support. While most academic research is narrowly focused, CBID Design Teams are given considerable freedom in selecting the healthcare challenge they will tackle, and in choosing the best technology domain to solve that problem.
We believe this freedom brings out the best in our students - a passion and ownership of the challenge that makes people truly innovative and builds them into leaders!
If you share our passion for medical innovation and developing students into leaders who understand what it takes to create effective healthcare solutions, please consider becoming a financial supporter of the Center for Bioengineering Innovation & Design at Johns Hopkins University.
There are a wide range of ways you can focus your giving to CBID, depending on what aspects of the program appeals to you:
Support for Student Fellowships
- These fellowship enable highly qualified candidates to join the CBID MSE program who might otherwise not be able to attend. It allows us to attract the best possible candidates as well.
- Your gift would go directly to the creation of a fellowship that supports student tuition and fees.
- Fellowships can be named by the donor.
Support our Design Teams
- The CBID program has high demands from our undergraduate and MSE teams. To enable them to succeed, the CBID Technology Accelerator Fund provides the funds needed for making prototypes, testing them, supplies, as well as student travel to clinical and technical meetings where they can meet with experts and discuss their projects.
- In addition, student teams can apply for "bridge" funding immediately after completing the CBID academic program to help them carry their project forward to a point where they can attract follow-on funding.
- Your support for the Tech Acceleration Fund will enable the high quality experience CBID provides our students and directly impacts the ability of their innovations to start off on a path to commercialization and clinical impact.
Support our New Design Studio and Incubator
- Space is a critical element to innovation -- a place where bright minds work together for countless hours, in an open and collaborative space that allows for exploration and capture of ideas. CBID has a design studio in Clark Hall in the JHU Homewood Campus, but as we succeed and expand, the program requires a larger and better equipped Design Studio
- Naming rights available for major supporters.
Design Day Sponsor
- Design Day has become the flagship event at Johns Hopkins for medtech innovation and design. Each year, hundreds of people from academia, industry, government, and the investor communities join us in hearing the final project reports from CBID Design Teams, and to hear world-class Keynote Speakers.
- Your support for Design Day will go directly towards implementation of this great event and to student awards and recognition.
- More about this year's Design Day can be found here.
We welcome you to consider these and other ways you can support our program. For more information or to discuss supporting CBID, please feel free to call Dr. Youseph Yazdi, CBID Executive Director, at 410-516-8006.
